 CCLMS – the Best Hotel Management College in Contai, District: Purba Medinipur, hosted the Mixology Competition on 08th November 2025. The students showcased a variety of mocktails inspired by both global and local flavours. The judges evaluated all the students on the presentation, including creativity, presentation, hygiene, serving manner, and so on. What Is Mixology? Mixology is the art and science of preparing beverages, especially mocktails, using a variety of ingredients and unique techniques. The first origin of mixology was established in the American Cocktail culture along with the introduction of a book on cocktails, “The Bartender’s Guide” by Jerry Thomas, in the year 1862. During the ancient era, all the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks used to mix fermented beverages with certain herbs This concept is mainly about experiencing the taste and presentation.  It focuses on understanding the chemistry of preparation and the tools used in mixology. The Mixologist mainly focuses on the art and science of preparing drinks, rather than inventing new ones, as they have an in-depth knowledge of different spirits, liquor and other ingredients. Students interested in pursuing an undergraduate program in B.Sc. In Hospitality and Hotel Administration will learn Mixology (Theory and Practical) as part of the Food and Beverage service curriculum.  It is also an event that guides career development through a creative presentation to young hospitality professionals. This concept not only develops skills but also prepares for a career in the top hospitality industry worldwide. Over the past 12 years, CCLMS Contai has primarily focused on providing students with real professional experience. From there, they will learn teamwork, communication, and presentation, qualities considered essential in the industry. Instead, the hotel management department at CCLMS Contai continues to enhance students' practical and theoretical knowledge to prepare them for top managerial positions, including food and beverage management roles.
