In the present scenario, we have observed that there has been a huge demand for professional courses like hotel management. This course focuses on monitoring the operations of the hotel industry. If anyone wishes to study this course then he/she has to learn about the skills as well as the techniques of managing a hotel industry like housekeeping, front office, catering, marketing and accounts. The reason behind all these facts is to be acquainted with the techniques so that the hotel industry runs smoothly. So far as the hotel industry is concerned, it mainly deals with several types of guest accommodation. The hotel industry is not only meant for luxuries, but also it mainly focuses on the overnight maintenance of guesthouses, inns and so on. The importance of the hotel industry in the present scenario is to make sure that all the guests are very satisfied with the services like accommodation as well as provision of the dishes and drinks on time and so on.

There is a myth that “Hospitality Management” and “Hotel management” tend to be the same course, but it is not true. There lies a lot of difference in these courses. Hotel management is a branch of managerial education which mainly focuses on administering the operations of the hotel industry only. Apart from that, Hospitality management is a branch of managerial education, which mainly focuses on administering the broader industry apart from hotels, be it in the banking sector, and so on.

So far as the jobs are concerned, all the students can get a vast opportunity in the cruise ship as well as airlines, restaurants, catering, and guest houses after securing a degree in Hotel Management. Apart from that, the job positions which are closely related to the course are; Hotel manager, Restaurant Manager, Front Office Manager, Catering Manager, HR Manager, Accommodation Executive and so on.

Several hotels consist of several departments to perform the task seamlessly so that the hotel personnel receive a positive response from the guests. Some of the departments are; Food and Beverage department (where the food, as well as drinks, are served to the guest). Apart from that the restaurant manager of the hotel should make sure that they should take the responsibility to purchase the ingredients which are required to prepare meals and drinks.

The second department is the ‘Front Office Department”, which mainly focuses on administering the reservations, monetary transactions, guest services and so on. The front office managers should maintain cordial relations with other hotel personnel to maintain the seamless operations of the hotel industry.

The third department is “housekeeping”. This department mainly focuses on the provision of a safe, clean and comfortable environment. The main duty of this department is to make sure that all the rooms are properly maintained and cleaned.

From the above facts, it is very well explained that hotel management is all about teamwork to maintain the seamless working of the hotel industry.
